PHASE Asia Pacific is a conference for all educators focussed on physical education, health, athletics, sports, and experiential learning.  The conference allows participants to learn from leading authorities in their respective fields as well as from practitioner presenters, to network with fellow educators, and to access good practice and resources in multiple formats.

PHASE has evolved from the Asia Pacific Physical Education Conference (APPEC) which was a dedicated Physical Education & Wellness event for the Asia Pacific region starting in 2015.

Creating Cultures of Thinking in PE
Thinking is the foundation of all learning - be it in a Math, Science, Music or the PE classroom. While we often believe that thinking is a natural, innate process, research has demonstrated that our thinking ability can be strengthened and developed through purposeful, targeted instruction, and what is commonly known as 'thinking routines'.

This presentation models ways in which thinking routines can be used successfully in a PE classroom, in order to help students develop their analytical and critical thinking, which ultimately leads to improved physical performance and a healthy outlook on life. Thinking routines enhance students' physical performance while developing their understanding, their ability to make connections, and their problem-solving capacity.

Participants will be encouraged to use thinking routines throughout the presentation and to reflect on their own practice.
