PHASE Asia Pacific is a conference for all educators focussed on physical education, health, athletics, sports, and experiential learning.  The conference allows participants to learn from leading authorities in their respective fields as well as from practitioner presenters, to network with fellow educators, and to access good practice and resources in multiple formats.

PHASE has evolved from the Asia Pacific Physical Education Conference (APPEC) which was a dedicated Physical Education & Wellness event for the Asia Pacific region starting in 2015.

Troubleshooting & Fine-Tuning Your Sport Education Seasons
Sport Education is the most thoroughly researched and validated physical education curriculum model. Overwhelmingly, students report preferring Sport Education to ‘standard PE’. In addition to sport teaching in PE, the Sport Education model has been applied to dance. outdoor education, athletics, and swimming in PE. The Sport Education model allows teachers to simultaneously teach for education in, through and about movement

This session is aimed at those interested in and considering Sport Education, perhaps for the first time, but also those who have had experience with some seasons and who may have encountered some challenges during implementation and are seeking ideas to further enhance what they currently do.
In this session we tackle some questions including:
  1. How do I progressively support the coach in teaching content to their team?
  2. What strategies can the teacher use in an attempt to secure reasonably even teams?
  3. How do I address teams who are not cooperating?
  4. What do I do if there is a team that is leading by a considerable margin?
  5. How can I encourage fair play and ethical behaviour with officials?
  6. What do I do if there is ‘role overlap’ on teams?
  7. What do I do about teams where there are players who are often absent?
  8. How can the equipment manager ‘feel’ more important in their team?
  9. I only have 8-10 lessons, what can I do?
  10. What advice would you give on trying this for the first time?
This will be an interactive session where participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and tackle situations encountered in the planning and delivery of Sport Education seasons that may have impacted the use of the Sport Education model, or even prevented people from using the model, in your classes and school.
