In this one-hour workshop participants will be guided through the contents of ‘The Key, A Social Emotional Toolkit for Teens,’ a comprehensive emotional and mental health guidebook that can be taught as a curriculum or used as a resource for teachers, counsellors, parents and teenagers. A skills-based model it includes ample definitions, explanations, discussions, writing therapy, videos and exercises allowing teachers to adapt the content and its order to best suit the school’s cultural, societal and local needs.

Participants will experience a range of essential topics to help build students’ resilience through practical coping strategies including positive prevention and healthy coping skills using self-enquiry, self-awareness and the creation of beneficial behaviour change. They will gain access to the various activities and the fifteen videos to understand how this course can be taught as a full curriculum or broken down and taught on a needs basis, gaining the tools and confidence to facilitate ‘The Key’ in their own classroom.

Adolescence is the developmental stage of ‘identity’ with teenagers working hard to understand who they are and discover their sense of purpose and direction. With the high prevalence of mental health issues and social emotional confusion, it is a vital time to equip students with the tools they need not only to survive but to thrive in school, at home and in life.
