PHASE Asia Pacific is a conference for all educators focussed on physical education, health, athletics, sports, and experiential learning. The conference allows participants to learn from leading authorities in their respective fields as well as from practitioner presenters, to network with fellow educators, and to access good practice and resources in multiple formats.
PHASE has evolved from the Asia Pacific Physical Education Conference (APPEC) which was a dedicated Physical Education & Wellness event for the Asia Pacific region starting in 2015.
Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) are considered the cornerstone of a physically literate and active life. The skill of running is a central component of these skills and the ability to take-off quickly, accelerate and decelerate provides the foundation for participation in most sporting activities.
This active workshop will allow attendees to participate in various sprint-related developmental activities that the presenter - a P-12 HPE teacher with over twenty years of experience - successfully uses with middle and secondary students of varying abilities.
This is not meant to be a session dealing with all the technical aspects of sprinting. Instead, it will involve the presenter demonstrating strategies and activities he uses to enhance students' engagement, increase their participation in sprinting lessons, and build their capabilities in components of sprinting as they relate to track running as well as to general sport.
